Katie Larkey is passionate about baking and loves creating and designing cakes, especially for her clients’ individual occasions.

Her passion for baking began at a young age cooking sweet treats for her family. She then entered hospitality and has spent her career continually improving her skills.

Moving to London Katie was quickly appointed as kitchen manager of the Humming Bird Bakery, on the famous Portobello road, in Notting Hill, where she created cakes for celebrities such as Mick Jagger, Stella Mcartney, Adele and famous Australian chef Bill Granger. She was offered the position of opening a new Hummingbird store in Islington as the kitchen manager, however she had already decided to return to Australia to run her own cake business.

Returning to Australia Katie spent three years at Harvest Cafe Byron Bay. Then Sweet Obsessions Cakes business became so successful that she had to leave Harvest to concentrate on it full time. She still makes beautiful wedding cakes for Harvest.

Katie lives in the hinterland of Bangalow with her partner who is a chef.

Katie is constantly expanding her repertoire which is now extending to gluten free, dairy free, egg free and raw vegan cakes. She works with fresh flowers and seasonal fruit and sources local quality ingredients.

Katie loves catering for weddings, birthdays, hens, special occasions and corporate events.
